If you’re looking for something different to send your guests too, or looking for something new to try out yourself, think about heading out to the Hawaii Foodbank’s annual culinary fundraiser, “Great Chefs Fight Hunger.” In one of the most unique yet satisfying fundraisers all year, guests get to sample cuisine from nearly two dozen chefs and restaurants inside the Foodbank’s warehouse near the airport. Enjoy delectable bites from local faves such as Chef Chai, Lee Ann Wong, HASR Bistro, 12th Avenue Grill, Sansei, Roy’s and more. Ample beverages are supplied by Young’s Market Company and JMD Beverages. There is tons of food available for tasting. So much so that I have yet to make it through all the dishes being sampled that evening. In addition to live music, food and drink, there are also amazing silent auction items to bid on and a chance to buy a key that could open the Cellar Door. Whoever holds the key that opens the door wins ALL of the wine behind it.
Our 754 pounds of food we all gathered at Christmas time barely scratches the surface of what this organization needs in their mission to feeding over 287,000 needy individuals each year. All proceeds raised by the Great Chefs® will benefit the Hawaii Foodbank in this noble cause and visitors will have a chance to sample some of the best Hawaii has to offer in one location.
Tickets can be purchased here. Tickets are $150 for Plumeria General Admission Tickets and $200 for an Orchid VIP Ticket. A VIP Ticket allows you the privilege of entering the event early, giving you an extra hour to sample dishes from your favorite chefs and bid on your favorite auction items, which is highly recommended.
